Treebranch Posted March 19, 2004 Author Posted March 19, 2004 Yeah lions. Thanks for your contribution. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
delta1 Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 Don't mention it. It's just that what you describe reminds me of the Roman Arena. There actually is an active group (sorry, no links- I just remember comeing across them somewhere) that does Gladiatoral combat. Freedom isn't free!

Thuggish Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 i saw on the learning channel when this prison fight broke out- looked like disorganized and more brutal bjj fights... mounting and wilding out with punches until someone else threw the guy off or the guy on the bottom got thrown off- most all ground fighting one on one until a guy came over to help a buddy. a broken arm throws no punches
Treebranch Posted March 20, 2004 Author Posted March 20, 2004 Imagine what a trained fighter with an actual strategy could do. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
Treebranch Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 I thought this would be interesting to explore. I tried to set up a scenario that would really be the closest thing to actual combat. Oh well. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
Shorinryu Sensei Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 hockey LOL! I was thinking of the aftermath of a European soccer match myself. Us vs them. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
Ironberg Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 I've done anarchy sparring before a few times with about five or so other practitioners (wish I could do it more). It's kinda random and is a real rush - but it feels real good to score with a few jumping split kicks every once in a while. Treebranch Posted March 31, 2004 Author Posted March 31, 2004 I'd like to hear what kind of strategies would be effective in a situation like this. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
White Warlock Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 I, frankly, wouldn't want to participate in something like this. Far too concerned about killing someone. With a one-on-one competition you can gauge your intensity. With something like this, not likely.
