SaiFightsMS
I am interested in finding out which katas different groups learn after the Heian katas. And also, if maybe the order of the Heian katas are broken in order by the insertion of additional katas.

Karateka_latino
Yes, that's the official order to learn the katas. Heians, then tekki 1, and then basai dai, kanku, etc..
Tobias_Reece
Most clubs do Heian, Tekki Shodan, Bassai Dai. However, this order is generally pretty illogical. I think I remember reading that Funakoshi believed that all the Tekkis (shodan, nidan, sandan) should be learnt before Bassai C ya "You Are Never Given A Dream Without Also Being Given The Power To Make It True. SaiFightsMS
I asked because I am really curious. My group does an odd combination of katas. We do not currently do the Tekki's. After the Heians we do Jutte, Jiin and Jion, then Rohai. And yes, I know that doesn't much sound like a Shotokan lineup. After that then it gets more traditional with Bassai Dai and Kank Dai. I appreciate everyones response.
