gheinisch Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Yeah, not very creative but for a beginners class it my be good enough. "If your hand goes forth withhold your temper""If your temper goes forth withold your hand"-Gichin Funakoshi
Natural Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Go to goole type the name of the katas its alway comes up. A karate punch it is like a dasvasted stick blow. Instead, a blow of Kung Was is comparable to a lash with a chain that has attacked, allaltra extremity one ball of ferro
Gyte Posted February 29, 2004 Posted February 29, 2004 Check this site out. It shows the kata itself and then the bunkai of the kata. At least one application of it. Hope it helps. Oh, it's a German site but you can make out the names without a problem. Just not sure what everything thing else says. http://www.budostudienkreis.de/Video/VidUbers.htm Their bunkai is all block punch. Yeah, not very creative but for a beginners class it my be good enough. I can read German. From what I understand the bunkai presented on this website are elementary bunkai, that is why it's all block and punch. The more advanced bunkai are not shown here, expect the bunkai from the kata Tekki Shodan. If you want to see the advanced ones you must buy the videotapes or the DVD's. gheinisch Posted February 29, 2004 Posted February 29, 2004 Thanks Gyte, my Dad was born and raised in Germany and tried to teach the language to me and my brothers growing up but we as kids thought we had better things to do. I sure wish I had learned German now. Thanks again for the translation! "If your hand goes forth withhold your temper""If your temper goes forth withold your hand"-Gichin Funakoshi
Sasori_Te Posted February 29, 2004 Posted February 29, 2004 It looked very nice. All the techniques nice and crisp. However, even for elementary bunkai I don't think it was very good. They completely ignored the base footwork and the off-balance techniques that were practically begging to be used. Again, very nice to watch, but not practical from a self defense standpoint. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.
equaninimus Posted February 29, 2004 Posted February 29, 2004 I did like the use of Matsumura Chinto rather than the usual Itosu version. There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!
