1st Kyu and 1st Dan

In our Association, we have a "Cho Dan Bo" which is essentially a "black belt candidate" position. It also starts them as instructors-in-training.

I wouldn't call it an "honorary black belt" at all. It's just another rank. It's basically 6-12 months of testing to see if you've got what it takes to be a black belt.

I'm no longer posting here. Adios.

Shorinryu Sensei, how did you manage to get an honourary 3rd dan in TKD? (Just curious, 'cos you said you've never done TKD!!)

Thanks

Who said an honarable black belt I can't see no one said that?

Actually, if you scroll back, there are several references to honorary BB's and pre-BB's (between 1st kyu and shodan).

We have a probationary black belt for those who complete their black belt test but their skill doesn't quite messure up. they get to test again for shodan at the next available time
