krunchyfrogg Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 My Senseis are always telling the class that you need to take what you learn in the dojo and practice it in the real world, and I believe them. Even if it's a minor thing, I try to practice my katas every day, and I am always practicing deep breathing. Anyway, how many hours in the dojo is a good number? Each of my classes is 90 minutes long, and I try to make 3 a week (4.5 hours). WolverineGuy Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 I think four is good, personally, as long as you're training outside. Wolverine1st Dan - Kalkinodo"Shut up brain, or I'll stab you with a q-tip""There is no spoon."
SevenStar Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 aas much as you can - some schools don't offer classes everyday, or even three days a week. practice outsitde of the school is a MUST in all cases.
Pacificshore Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Train as much as you can, but try not too overtrain and burn yourself out Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
equaninimus Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 I try to go four nights/week. Obviously, I'm not there tonight. There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!
SandanPJ Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 The dojo isn't as important as bringing home what you learn. Home can be the best place to knock the kinks out. It has to become a lifestyle if you really want to become your best.
KarateDave Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Personally, I do four two hour classes a week. I find that it has really helped me advance my abilities quickly.
aefibird Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 A combination of dojo and home training is the best approach. I'd say train at least twice a week in the dojo to get any benefit out of your MA training. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." Tal Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 As many as possible. You can't really go to the dojo too much. I'd say 2 hours a week would be the bare minimum. shotokan karate nidanjujitsu shodankendo shodan
