if i were you i would invest my time and money in spelling and grammer lessons, if you cant get these down dont waste time trying to learn something as delicate as martial arts, this is something where you need mental discipline, if you arent prepaired for this dont waste your time.

Ouch man, that's kind of harsh. :-? Also, don't fall victim to the same thing you're critiquing them of doing. For instance:

GRAMMER???? The proper spelling is GRAMMAR

PREPAIRED???? The proper spelling is PREPARED.

Your I's are not capitalized when referring to yourself.

You have a comma after LESSONS. There should be a period there.

Same thing after DISCIPLINE. Should I go on?

Ohh... and just my two cents... the original poster is 15, on probation, has acquaintances who use drugs, and lives in Aurora (no offense to the literate Aurorians). That pretty much sums up his lack of ability to form complete sentences and inability to write. People like that need to get their act together first before engaging in the martial arts. It's more than just an avenue to learn to kick butts. Get your act together first, then learn. Sheeesh!

Oops my bad, as long as my point made it across. I don't worry about my GRAMMAR and such too much anymore, I did that once. I did my time and now I work on the mastery of the arts not my grammar and spelling anymore, but that's just me, I'm an old timer. Lol.

Well granmasterchen. I'd say you really need to work on your mastery of the arts alot more. The last time I checked humility and courtesy were right up there on the list of things to master. As a matter of fact, as I understand it, you can never master an art you can only learn to master yourself. If this is the case, then you have a ways to go my friend. This kid comes here with a question as valid as anyone else's and you flame him for it. If I were you I would invest my time and money in some lessons on manners and etiquette.

Squirrel, if that school is the only one available for you my best advice is to check it out. If it seems okay, go for it. You don't want to get involved with anyone that has outrageous contracts or that teach that fighting is okay for any situation. I would stay away from the situation that you were talking about. It can only get you into more trouble you obviously don't need. Good luck to you.

Well, if you enjoy the Kung Fu at that dojo you've found then... go for it! Train hard and listen to what your instructor tells you and I'm sure you'll do really well with it. You may be able to find and switch to a Jeet Kune Do dojo when you get a bit older and have had some experience with Kung Fu. If your mum stopped you training last time because you didn't practice...well, this time prove her wrong and make sure you get plenty of practice in!!

As for the other situation, there's never a 'good' time to fight. Try and stay away from the guy who wants to fight you if possible. I know it may be a difficult thing to do, but you'll not be doing yourself any favours if you get into fights and trouble.

Good luck with your Kung Fu training!

I apologize for my harshness, I was out of line. I am just tired of seeing kids that want to learn how to fight and have no desire to learn the art itself. I find that wrong and that is how you came across to me my friend. If I am wrong in my judgement I apologize again for stereotyping. I may have read you wrong. I never meant to give off the impression that I have mastered the arts. I think we can first start moving along our path once someone tells us the truth though. I will not pollute someones mind and get them all hyped up about learning martial arts so they can fight someone over a highschool dispute about girlfriends. I will help someone and tell them about the arts, if they truely want to learn the arts not just how to beat a guy up.

So the bottom line here is why do you want to learn martial arts? Is it just to defend yourself or are you actually disciplined and ready of mind to dedicate yourself to an art that takes years and years just to begin to understand the finer aspects.

Again I apologize for how I came across to the creator of this thread and to all the viewers, I hope with this last response you can get the idea of where I was coming from and what I was getting at.

even if this is a legit thread,

no one's mentioned the fact that if that guy is wanting to kill you, what you learn between now and him killing you isn't going to help much.

he isn't going to wait nicely while you prepare yourself.

post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are.
