ZeRo
All this stuf about attacking the groin is interesting. Most guys will wear jeans and they act like an athletic supporter. Its better to go for the legs on a bigger guy or rush in real low if you know they don't have a tendency to kick and just uppercut him. Upper lip is always good or an excellent pressure point to make em bend their legs is give them and nice knee n the outside of the thigh about 1/2 of the way up the femur. Even nastier if could land it at about the same distance on the inside of the leg. Just some tips. i like the point above the lip. works well if they get you in a head lock. what art do you do? back to the original point big people, its easyer to hit points on them and to hit them in general. hit them in the groin and knee. Kensai
WRIST LOCKS, WRIST LOCKS, WRIST LOCKS! What was the question.........lol. Each fight is different, so one will always have to change. I might use a wrist lock, then a strike to the back of the head.
BlueDragon1981
Im rather small for a guy. I fight both tall lengthy people and bigger people effectivily. Most the time I can use my speed on the bigger ones. The tall ones I get inside. Thats about it.
Martial_Artist
Big people bleed the same. Just fight them. They're going to punch, then act. They want to grab you, then act. 10ft. tall and the size of a freight train? They're still flesh and blood, and bleed and hurt like everyone else. They're bigger? stronger? bulkier? Then fight accordingly. You've been trained to fight, so fight. It's not all that complicated an issue. Of course, don't go thinking bigger=slower. That's not true in all cases. Sure, a lot of big/bulky guys are slow. A great many of my friends that lift weights are slower than Christmas, but those of my friends that lift weights and train in martial arts are quicker. Your opponent is standing in front of you. He has two legs and two arms just like you. So fight him accordingly. psychospaz
what about the fact that the bigger stronger person can also do your leg and groin kicks with more power and range, or does one assume that they're just mindless brawlers. only shorter weaker people think when fighting right? G95champ
Being the big guy maybe I can help.... You got to take our legs out. I hear speed this and speed that. My hands are as fast as anyones. Im not blowing my own horn but big don't mean slow. In fact most big guys I know have really quick hands because it is eaiser for us to work them on our onw than to work kicks. To slow a big guy you got to take our his wheels. A few low kicks. Remember he has more weight on his legs and if the leg is weak it will be hard for him to stand. Simple math 300 is more than 150. The old saying about the bigger they are the harder they fall is true. I am 6'1 315. My lil brother is 6'7 and 295. This is the only way I can attack him. I am faster than he is but when we spar I have to take out his wheels. I don't find many people bigger than me but he and another student I had 6'5 300 taught me this. (General George S. KarateTips
I believe you must anticipate, or forestall your opponent. As soon as you read the signs of attack, such as the shifting of their weight, a big body movement, lifting of the front foot etc, you must cross the 'gap' and strike. If it is competition point fighting or if it's in the street the same principle applies. You must go first. You don't want to wait for the big guy to start... otherwise you are in trouble. You might block or weave a few techniques but eventually they will overpower you. I say hit first, hit hard and hit multiple times. Hpkid0ist
If all else fails knee cap the sucker. But even with those that are'nt all that much bigger than you, there are just some people you just can not punch or kick out. So how do you take down an immoveable object? Destroy its base. Hpkid0ist
One thing to keep in mind. Im many places if you strike first then you are the instigator, even if you FELT that they were gona attack you. Ya gota be sure. 2nd Dan Hap Ki Do: What we do in life echos for an eternity! Jade_Lotus
a punch is a punch and a kick is a kick. don't let the size of your opponent throw you off. He has vital areas as well. Of course as you would any type of confrontation, try at first to avoid it, try to get out of it. If that is not an option, then you must fight. It's simple bigger and stronger, does not mean better. If you are faster and more skilled than he his, then I don't care if hes 6'8" and 350lbs, his fight is already lost. But of course never underestimate any opponent. Basically size doesn't matter, just fight him. This has been my experience.
