Some other grappling art would be Akido, Hapkido, and Kuk Sool Won.

Whatever you decide, stick with it because its hard to learn if you have to keep starting from the beginning.

Kung Fu Sansoo is very straight forward and brutal. I highly recommend it if learning something very effective in a relatively short time.

A striking art combined with grappling experience is the best bet if you really want to be effective.

 

Karate and Ju Jitsu would make you well versed in both.

 

but as my instructors told me about fighting 'if you run away you stand a much better chance of not getting hurt than fighting!' :)

700 hours of official training. Injury finished me dammit!

I think Karate

 

my dads class was very strict you would of bean a war machine by the time you were a black belt their he was like one of the best students but hadnt even progessed a belt after being a year their i remember him say ing he did bunny hopes for 20 mins at least and if you fell down the tiredness they said get UP and booted you and jumped on you now if that wotn toufen you up i dont no what wil l :lol:

 

just fidn a very strict karate teacher and your on da way :karate:

dude. if you want to learn to how to defend yourself

WELL, just pick a school, doesn't matter which one there all good for defending yourself. that's what they were designed to do. just pick one pour all your heart and time into it, and MASTER IT.

It all comes down to personal preference. Maybe attend some classes and get a feel for what you like. You can then research it and see if it's right for you.

It's also funny that this thread is from 2001. :P
