SBN Doug Posted November 26, 2001 Posted November 26, 2001 Some other grappling art would be Akido, Hapkido, and Kuk Sool Won. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
cross Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 Whatever you decide, stick with it because its hard to learn if you have to keep starting from the beginning.
Treebranch Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Kung Fu Sansoo is very straight forward and brutal. I highly recommend it if learning something very effective in a relatively short time. hajime Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 A striking art combined with grappling experience is the best bet if you really want to be effective. Karate and Ju Jitsu would make you well versed in both. but as my instructors told me about fighting 'if you run away you stand a much better chance of not getting hurt than fighting!' 700 hours of official training. Injury finished me dammit!1st Kyu Wado Ryu
Treebranch Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 There's nothing wrong with not fighting, I agree. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"

InsaneTigerCrane Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 dude. if you want to learn to how to defend yourselfWELL, just pick a school, doesn't matter which one there all good for defending yourself. that's what they were designed to do. just pick one pour all your heart and time into it, and MASTER IT.
CQC Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 It all comes down to personal preference. Maybe attend some classes and get a feel for what you like. You can then research it and see if it's right for you. It's also funny that this thread is from 2001. "Beware the fury of a patient man."- John Dryden
