Jazzstorm
Hello, I was wondering what experiences in Ki breathing have you had? Do you believe it can heal you? Has it helped? What do you use it for? Or....would also like to know if you think it's b.s. Thanks Kyo Sa Nim in KSWCertified Personal TrainerHealth and Business Consultant
SBN Doug
Well, I was about to reply to this, until I remembered you take KSW, and thus you already know what we do. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
swooshfinn
I use it mostly as a relaxation and meditation technique even though I haven't been in the studio for close to a year now. Kuk Sool Won Jae JahJah Ddi (Brown Belt)
ZR440
Those dozen or so Ki exercises made me too relaxed when I was in KSW. The only time I felt it helped me was to focus before a board break. There are no formal breathing techniques in my new style except before our forms, which are a lot shorter in duration compared to KSW. It's happy hour somewhere in the world. Jazzstorm
Thanks for the replies. Doug,if you remember,I am very new to Kuk Sool. Anything, you would like to add would be appreciated. My instructor is trying to get me to focus on Ki Breathing to help heal a shoulder injury(and other aches and pains) Anyone have any experience or comments on that? tufrthanu
I am just wondering if Ki breathing is like Dan Jun breathing. If so it can help to lessen damage from blows to your body. Long Live the Fighters!
SBN Doug
Well, I certainly have never heard of trying to get someone as new to it as you to use it for such an advanced purpose. But I have used it for minor injuries. More intense injuries were usually treated with acupressure and acupuncture with my first master. At your level, we usually focus on getting you to use it for breath control, focus your energy, and as tufrthanu said, to protect internal tissue damage from attacking blows. Jazzstorm
Basically,I am using it to focus my energy(on my injury) I think that my instructor is aware of my interest and was just covering what Ki Breathing could do. He knows I have studied in other related areas,so my understanding is a bit more than a beginner(where this is concerned) I have used similar techniques in the past. I don't want to make it sound like he is teaching me advanced techniques, before I am ready or qualified Kyo Sa Nim in KSWCertified Personal TrainerHealth and Business Consultant
SBN Doug
Well, there's nothing necessarily wrong with that, even if he was. Although, you may here a different story from some of the more rigid rule followers. That's always an advantage to studying directly under a higher level belt, sometimes you get some "extra" training. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
