SevenStar Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 So do you think he would have done just as well with out any Hung Gar training? honestly? yeah. Why? because he already had striking training, and he said that he used his FMA mentality to apply to his fighting. He's trained that FMA for over 20 years, so he could definitely strike without his kung fu. Now, had he not had any other striking training, then my answer would be no, he couldn't do it without kung fu.
Karateka_latino Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 Well, i guess the only point prove here is, again, That the fighting style helps a lot but at the end, its up to the Man.
kotegashiNeo Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 Oh Kung fu practioners so sensitive !! Kisshu fushin oni te hotoke kokoro
Drunken Monkey Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 why are people so hung up on styles winning things like this, or anything else similar for that matter? saying that a certain style wins a fight is almost like saying that the man wasn't part of the achievement. my sifu always says, at the end of the day, if you are in a fight, i don't care if you are doing wing chun or not, i want YOU to win. if YOU win, then i've done my job. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
jeffrogers Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 style or technique does have a play in this. I don't think Royce would win against Shamrock now like he did in the first UFC. Do to lack of knowlege of the ground work by fighters. But now knowledge is out there and so is hte counters and training in and adpation ot compete against grapplers is out there. This is one reason why I think the clinch is going start being more a huge part in take downs. Do to people getting reallly good at sprawling on shoots. It is both the invidual and the style or training methods. -Jeff
Treebranch Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 I just think that many MA's have a lot to offer, but it takes a particular fighter to show the effectiveness and to know how to use it. This is good for Hung Gar to have a good fighter out there winning fights. Maybe now people will realize the all MA's have something to offer. SevenStar Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 If a particular fighter can use it, that doesn't mean that you can...It's great exposure, but if he can do it, then others should be able to also. Also, this is actually an old fight...it's from UFC VII. The reason why it came to light just now is because we just found out that that guy posts on another MA forum that we frequent.
Treebranch Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 No it means you can't. I may be able to. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
SevenStar Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 exactly, MAY be able to. Everybody MAY be able to...
