Hello,

I'm thinking of adding onto my house a room for Karate. Can you all help me decide how big to make the room. I want to have space to do Katas, sparing, heavy bag, and maybe weapons. I want to start the room off with just the basics. Later on I plan to add mirrors on the wall so I can watch myself.

Thanks,

Seth

What a cool idea! Hopefully one day I'll have enough cash to do something similar. So far I got a heavy bag for Christmas and want to put it in the garage along with my trampoline (!) but the garage is full of mess so I guess I'll have to wait a bit. As for your karate room, how much space have you got? IMHO the bigger the better! :D

Amen to that...one of my students built a room that was bigger than our training space...I envy him. :D

Well I have my whole back yard. Not sure on what size it is. I would have to guess 90ftx40ft . I'm not sure how accurate that messurement is I just came up with it in my head.

and this might seem a bit obvious but make sure you have the ceiling high enough....

post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are.

I would imagine about the same size as a double garage... yep high ceiling are a great idea.

My sensei builded a training room on top of his double garage. it gave him approx. 40m2. Good luck with building your karate room :)
