cathal Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Any links for Bo Staff katas that would be applicable to Shotokan? I'm aware its an empty-hand style, but I know that weapons training can be great for conditioning. Thanks everyone. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
Viontro Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 The kata called "Jitte" or "Jutte" has some bo staff-moves in it. http://jka.uchicago.edu/Video/Jitte-new.mpeg
Drunken Monkey Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 'bo staff'? someone's gonna get a little annoyed at that... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
tommarker Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 You know, I've never bought the Jitte/Jutte/Sip Soo/ as a staff form argument. I'm one of those people who likes to take empty hand forms and try to perform them with weapons, but for me, I can't see a logical manner of staff defense or offense involved in the form, especially when you compare it to the style of bo play seen in traditional forms. I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
tommarker Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 as for "bo staff" well... he's Canadian... they all talk funny I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
