jeffrogers Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 You can go to China to the Shaolin Temple nad purchase for around $5 bucks a certificate that says you are allowed to teach the art of Shaolin Gong/Kung fu. I thought that was funny. -Jeff
Kirves Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 getting your your black belt in the comfort of your home for a mere $4,000.00. Wow, now that is an expensive belt. What is it made of, satin? They even say you get tested for your belts. Not sure how that takes place. Well, you wouldn't give a $4000 silk satin belt in just anyone's hands would you? Anyone handling such a belt has to be comprehensively tested so he has the skill and finesse to handle and wear the belt without damaging it.I sorry but I have to be very skeptical of an offer like this. Yeah, I will never pay more than a few bucks for my belts, no matter what they're made of. Old fashioned plain cotton is best IMO.
Hoju Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 I love when things like this offer the "Money back guarantee," and the more they say it (in this case 4x) the less they mean it. Then you hit the bottom, where you have 30 days, and you get charges shipping+handling & the restocking fee (usually approx 15%, but I've seen eBay stores charge as much as 40%). And then you notice that it never mentions HOW you test? Probably you have to own a video camera & mail them (at your own expense) video copies of your test. Now, all you need is an online diploma, an online job and an online spouse & you're pretty much set in life. Yay internet!
Drunken Monkey Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 and remember guys the quickest way to be a grandmaster is to invent your own style. then no one can argue with you about it. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
WolverineGuy Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 This is very true. I've noticed that Hapkido and Kenpo, I believe, also do a lot of "distance dojo" work...I can't believe that that's legit, but I'm willing to hear any opposing opinions on it. equaninimus Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 there is a real shidokan orgnaization, but I doubt this character is affiliated with them in any way. http://www.ihadojo.com/ There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!

blitzcraig Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 My guess is is that this is for LAZY people who what to sound cool and scare their neighbors by saying...."yo, im a black belt. I spent 4,000 in traning and yea....im cool". Just take a real class from a real dojo, and get the real experince.
