i prefer tie....elastic causes lots of irritation

Never think that Karate is practiced only in The Dojo. The entire world is a Dojo, and true Karate training takes place twenty-four hours a day.

I prefer tie elastic can drop over the course of an evening especially if you grapple

I'll say elastic because the tied ones come undone, even with the flat straps that are flat to hold better. Round shoe laces look pretty, but don't work sh*t.

One of the worst things that can happen during sparring, etc. is to say, "Wait, gotta tie up my pants again"!

Sensei's don't usually laugh, but everyone else does. If you wear elastic and they fall or get pulled off, try a smaller size or tighter elastic. If it's uncomfortable, use a fabric softener when you do laundry.

My dobok has both elastic and tie. During grappling and/or throws class, I tie it, but other than that, I just let the elastic do it's job. It holds up pretty well during regular TKD classes.

I have bigger problems with the cut of the pants than how the waistline is constructed.

Hmm, tell me about it.

Surely there's gotta be a bit better design for gi's than the usual?!?!?

One day I'm gonna design the perfect gi and make a fortune out of martial artists everywhere! :D
