Draven Chen Zhen Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Hello, I just started Shaolin Kung Fu 2 months ago and I was wondering why is it that there are so many different styles of Kung Fu, and where are the main differences in these styles? :: Bless me father, for I have just killed quite a few men ::https://www.tricking.be
JerryLove Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Same reason there are so many differnt ways to cook pasta... because everyone had their own idea on what tasted best. Your "what's the difference" is just as unanswerable for KF as it is for pasta. The difference is that they approach fighting and training differently. https://www.clearsilat.com
Draven Chen Zhen Posted January 11, 2004 Author Posted January 11, 2004 hm k, thanks for the reply :: Bless me father, for I have just killed quite a few men ::https://www.tricking.be
Drunken Monkey Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 and also cos china is a VERY big country with way too many people. more people=more variations. also the very nature of kung fu being that which works for you, everyone had slight variations of the same kung fu anyway, even within the same 'school'. AND then there's the old chinese insistence of hiding things from 'outsiders'. it wasn't uncommon for the old sifus to teach 'inferior' moves to students for fear of them taking the school from the family. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Rich_2k3 Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 Southern and northern styles, soft and hard, external and internal; these are the main things that seperate each style, and of course theres also the animal stances which vary from style to style (some dont have them of course).
