Thank you for that link. :) I love to see other katas. It is like a cross between shotokan's Bassai Dai and Bassai Sho, but different again.

 

Interesting stuff.

One kata that always affects me is Unsu. I don't really know it yet, but watching my sensei perform it I'm always impressed by it.

 

A 'turning point' kata for me was Nijushiho. Short but effective and it got me thinking a lot more about how I perform my other hata.

I love Nijushiho. If you get a chance, learn the Shito and Wado versions as well. It is filled with escapes from grabs, chokes, etc...

For me it was Saifa because it has counter grappling techniques in it. Up until that point I thought Kata was just a necessary evil to get my shodan but since then my whole view on karate and it's practicality has changed

Of the Naha katas, Sepai was the most eye-opening. It is a brutal little kata..no wonder I love it! :D
