aefibird
How much does it cost you to test for your next belt? In my association it is £15 for kyu gradings (about US$27) and it is £50 for 1st Dan (about US$90). It's slightly higher for gradings above shodan, but not much more. "Was it really worth it? Midnight_kitty
Wow! Thats cheap! I must be getting ripped off. For kyu belt ranks it costs $37-$58 depending on the rank. And for dan I think it was $150.
stuart
Ours are £30 (I think from memory) for Kyu grades, and I believe £50 for Dan grades. Which I think is resonable plus regrades are free. Purple Belt
Karateka
depending on your age, it could be 20-30 dollars for Kyu grading, and 75 dollars for First Dan. ronryu
from most of the groups I have seen it is useally $25 to $45 for kyu ranks and useally at least $100 per dan rank ie $100 for shodan $200 for nidan and so on. ESA-Shotokan
Kyu grades tend to be about £15 but that also includes the lesson beforehand. Shodan is £35 and I think £20 for a regrade. Nidan, Sandan, etc are higher costs.
renketsu
Hehe... looks like I (and my students) get the best deal so far We are part of a smaller type association and my sensei is the association chairperson so there are no pyramid type fees. Kyu gradings = £5 Dan gradings = £20 This includes certificates and dan grade registration with the AMA (Amateur Martial Association). Belts are extra but only £3 for standard plain colours. Embroidered ones are obviously extra. Andy. Andy Wilkinson (Sandan)Renketsu Karate Club Senior Instructor(http://www.renketsu.org.uk)

isshinryuka
$15 to attend a Shiai. This happens 3x a year. The Shiai is about 2-3 hours of training with rank adjustments after. No guarantee for rank adjustment, the $15 is just for the training, space rental for all the dojo students to train a once, and the party after. Pretty good deal compared to what I have read others get charged. Greg
