Rich_2k3 Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 Whats generally more effective and which one do u enjoy the most? "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee
stl_karateka Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 Reverse punch for me KarateForums.com Sempai
Pacificshore Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 I prefer the reverse punch, it's quick and just as powerful, although your range of motion is limited. Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
Rich_2k3 Posted January 5, 2004 Author Posted January 5, 2004 I prefer the roundhouse because it feels more natural, but I do think the reverse does a good job of braking noses "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee
cross Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 They are used for different things so i dont consider one more effective than the other. E.g. If you use a roundhouse punch to go around your opponents guard then it would be more effective than using a cross which would just hit your opponents guard. Other times its better to use a cross because its more direct and you waste less movement.
aefibird Posted January 6, 2004 Posted January 6, 2004 Out of reverse and roundhouse, I prefer reverse punch. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
ESA-Shotokan Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Definitely gyakuzuki. Reverse punch feels so hard and the action when it all locks together is something else.
Rich_2k3 Posted January 8, 2004 Author Posted January 8, 2004 I'm really suprised by the results of this, I thought that the roundhouse punch would dominate, but seems that i'm wrong, very wrong infact. "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee
Sho-ju Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 I like a right cross, but throw a mean lead hand upper cut. Not sure about the roundhouse punch...is that a hook?
