Thuggish Posted January 6, 2004 Posted January 6, 2004 okay, i think we can all agee that sano is an idiot. yes this is a 'burn' post- on sano. because hes an idiot. hey sano, shut up. idiot. anyway, jkd is not a style. am i going to fast? its a concept, a philosophy. the only reason bruce lee even gave it that name is because everyone just wouldnt shut up untill he named it (kind of like sano!) jkd is just a concept of fighting freely- without any one style in mind. fighting involves punching, kicking, tackeling, joint locks, yada yada yada. jkd is nothing more than bruce lees concept of fighting without any limitations- doing whatever works. technically- anyone who trains in martial arts and doesnt limit themselves to say, rules of the ring, a tournament, or whatever- simply trains to be a better fighter, follows the concepts of jkd. so to reiterate- jkd is not a style, and one cant compare jkd to some other style. also, sano, shut up. idiot. a broken arm throws no punches
WolverineGuy Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 (edited) I hear ya. I'm not one to jump on the flame bandwagon, but his last post was just ignorant. There are two schools of thought on jkd, not two schools left of jkd. JKD is very much alive and "kicking." EDIT: Sorry for the typos earlier, I was typing whilst holding my newborn. Drunken Monkey Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 i think it's cos people like guru inosanto chooses to avoid the media like the plague. it follows that people whose only knowledge of martial arts is from the media as opposed to the real world, wouldn't know of his scarily in depth knowledge of lord knows how many styles... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Rich67 Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I hear ya. I'm not one to jump on the flame bandwagon, but his last post was just ignorant. LOL.... the guy is a flippin' dufus. Anyone who thinks that pro wrestlers (Goldberg, etc. ad nauseum) are going to DOMINATE the MMA/ UFC needs to have his head examined. Out of touch with reality, all right... Mixed Martial Artist
Icetuete Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 this was supposed to be a Jkd discussion and not a "i dont like sano"-thread... he has the same right to post his opinion as we all do. of course we all can post our opinion on his opinion, but we dont want this thread to be closed, do we?
Drunken Monkey Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 and besides i think that everyone is pretty much agreed on what we think of sano. isn't it nice that we all actually agree on something? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Lazy Scholar Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 JKD is soo simple .yet takes a lifetime. as far as schools ... https://www.jkdwednite.com https://www.chriskentjkd.org https://www.jkdextreme.com https://www.jkd.com.hk these are only a few of MANY you scythe with it!!!!!!
Viontro Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Bruce Lee said: "The art of Jeet Kune Do is simply to simplify"
Practice is the key _ Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Have no way as way, no limitations as limitation". Bruce Lee created Jeet Kune Do to emphasize using what works. Not mixing every style and every thing. He used what works. The same applied to fighting. You want to use exactally what will work best and only that. After all, "...you must be like water". OKINAWIANS were doing that for years, many of the styles were pieces of many other systems. The things that worked best for the creator. The problem is what worked for the creator may not work ofr others , hence " make the art your own " or " learn to apply the art now that you know the techniques" "Lee said that JKD is not about accumulating, but about stripping away the excess." And when you srtip away excess and keep what works and move from fighting system to fighting system are you not accumulating. He trained very hard , never really learning any one style and died before we could really know what he was able to accomplish. In JKD circles that Bruce Lee is respected , however not held in the same god like view many folks do. Perhaps it is because many others took the concepts and put many more years into appling them than Bruce ever did. I'd really agree on this. Somone love oneSomone love twoI love one That one is myself just have been turn down....
kotegashiNeo Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 The ironic part about JKD is that the creator stressed simplicity yet practioners endlessly debate high brow philosophy Kisshu fushin oni te hotoke kokoro
