i just noticed my hanbo (3 foot staff) has a slight curve to it.

i think it's just become warped over time.

is it possible to straighten it back to the way it was?

it's made of ash if that helps

I wouldn't count on straightening it... however if you can I would love to know how... as my bo has developed quite the curve as well....

Find a wood shop or furniture builder that knows how to steam wood.

It's happy hour somewhere in the world.

yeah, a steamer is your only hope. i think i heard somewhere that you're supposed to lay your staff parallel to the ground in a non humid area, but i'm not sure.

My Jo and Bo are curve slightly. Does that mean I leave in a humid area. I'm starting to think they always bent.

I put a shillelagh outside after it bent, it was on its way to the road for pick up. When I went to get it a couple of days latter the cure was gone. It sat in the snow, I don't know if this will help at all...

I cut a Maple tree sappling out of the ground. We sue the root nob as the shillelagh cean (head)... We also use other hard woods, but maple is the easy to find in my area. I also have a a cleith de bhata (long heavy stick) made of dog wood, it's root nob is hugh, dense and easy to swing.
