Bdaze Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 i just noticed my hanbo (3 foot staff) has a slight curve to it. i think it's just become warped over time. is it possible to straighten it back to the way it was? it's made of ash if that helps If in your journey you encounter God, God will be cut ~Hatori Hanso (sonny chiba)
LeaF Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 I wouldn't count on straightening it... however if you can I would love to know how... as my bo has developed quite the curve as well.... ZR440 Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 Find a wood shop or furniture builder that knows how to steam wood. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.

battousai16 Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 yeah, a steamer is your only hope. i think i heard somewhere that you're supposed to lay your staff parallel to the ground in a non humid area, but i'm not sure. Treebranch Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 My Jo and Bo are curve slightly. Does that mean I leave in a humid area. I'm starting to think they always bent. Sho-ju Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 I put a shillelagh outside after it bent, it was on its way to the road for pick up. When I went to get it a couple of days latter the cure was gone. It sat in the snow, I don't know if this will help at all...
battousai16 Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 where did you get your shillelagh? "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Sho-ju Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 where did you get your shillelagh? I cut a Maple tree sappling out of the ground. We sue the root nob as the shillelagh cean (head)... We also use other hard woods, but maple is the easy to find in my area. I also have a a cleith de bhata (long heavy stick) made of dog wood, it's root nob is hugh, dense and easy to swing.
