three60roundhouse Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Well, I just got the PSAT's back and I did a lot better than I did last year. My grades are good and I am involved with a regular job, but I'm the oldest of six kids and need to start thinking about college finances. Do you guys know of any American colleges or universities (any "tier" or quality school, please) that offer scholorships for tae kwon do, judo, or any other martial art? I think this info would benefit not only me but the other teenage members of the forum. Thanks a lot! 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt!
WolverineGuy Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Wow, I have no idea...but if anyone DOES have any information, I would love to pass it on to my students as well! Wolverine1st Dan - Kalkinodo"Shut up brain, or I'll stab you with a q-tip""There is no spoon."
tommarker Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 I doubt it. I don't think any of the martial arts are official NCAA sanctioned sports. Now if you were to become an outstanding fencer in the next 2 years I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
Reklats Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Now if you were to become an outstanding fencer in the next 2 years Damn straight. The niche sports are where the huge $$$/person ratio is, with Title 9 and all. Fencing...field hockey...SYNCRONIZED SKATING... CHEERLEADING..! It's a good time to be a girl looking for a sports scholorship. three60roundhouse- after I took my PSAT's a few years ago was when I started getting more mail than my parents did (from all the colleges). Look forward to that.
three60roundhouse Posted December 13, 2003 Author Posted December 13, 2003 I know. I took them last year also...and I took the SAT's when I was 12....so I've been getting them for four years! 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt!
Reklats Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Ha. I remember doing the sat's when you're 12 thing. How rediculous that was. When I took them for real I scored higher on the math half than I did on both when I was in middle school (~13).
three60roundhouse Posted December 14, 2003 Author Posted December 14, 2003 Haha. Yeah, but the scary thing was that as a 12 year old I did better in verbal than the national average...and it wasn't good at all My combined score? Hahaha. Math? tommarker Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 so when do the fencing lessons begin? I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
three60roundhouse Posted December 14, 2003 Author Posted December 14, 2003 fencing is expensive! I looked it up before. Besides, I'm not really interested in it. I had a friend who did it and, it's not very exciting. 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt!
The Saint Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 Rowing is the way to go for scholarships. Colleges tend to give scholarships away like pez in some staes for rowing.
