White Warlock Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Muscle memory maybe no, but mind-body mechanics, yes. In my personal studies i noticed that a right-hander posed in the left-handed striking position tends to be on the defensive, while the opposite occurs with a left-hander (i.e., left-hander posed in the left-handed striking position is on the offense, while posed in the right-handed position, on the defense). This 'is' important and 'does' make a difference in a street encounter, especially if making an initial reading of your adversary. I also noticed this in sparring sessions and strike-oriented competitions. When someone, a right-hander, switches up on me... i press and they break. They are unable to 'maintain' an offensive mentality if pressed while on their opposing stance. Grappling, on the other hand... i notice no difference. Oh... btw, i'm left-handed. wado_lee Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 im a left handed too but dont really favour left or right (well i dont think so ) grappling i agree theres no difference theres no one style just your style---------
Treebranch Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Everyone favors a side, but when it comes to evasions move where you have to. If you know where to move, you will throw anyone off. Of course that movement should have a strike or a grappling technique with it. Drunken Monkey Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 treebranch, like i said, left hand or right hand, shouldn't matter.... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
benkendrick Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 this was taken from sifu Lamar M. DavisII In order for it to be really JKD, the following elements have to be there. 1 power side forward-correct bai jong 2 econimical foot work. 3 verticle fist punching structure. 4 centerline preservation 5 longest weapon to nearest target 6 simultaneous defense and attack 7 stop hits and stop kicks 8 alive structure 9 no passive movements 10 bruce lee's 5 ways of atack 11 energy/sensitivity training 12 contact sparring......................and a few more MY point is... yes powerside foreward or its not JKD and that means a right lead for most people. Sound like a lot of "rules" for The way of noway.... Ben Kendrick"The more you sweat in training the less you bleed in battle..."
