Maestro Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 Hey everybody! I haven't posted on the forums in like 6 months, but I'm making my triumphant return to leech information off you guys! So, I'm confused on what exactly a Daito is. What is the difference between the Daito and the Katana? Or does Daito refer to Japanese long-swords in general, 'cause I have seen swords that look exactly like Katanas called Daitos. Is there a subtle difference I'm missing? Might as well take my advice--I don't use it anymore.
Bdaze Posted December 2, 2003 Posted December 2, 2003 acourding to "The Martial Arts Encyclopedia" "Daito= long, Wakizashi= medium and tanto= short" a Katana is simply refered to as "the fameous long sword, the primary weapon of the samurai" im pretty sure they mean the same thing, but i've noticed some companies sell diatos and katanas as diferant things and the daitos are usually longer If in your journey you encounter God, God will be cut ~Hatori Hanso (sonny chiba)
