yes. i can do them

basically it's like a hand spin. this is done by spinning the nunchaku, letting go with your hand and allowing it to spin around the back of your hand, then catching it again in reverse grip.

the finger spin is acoumplished in a similiar way, but you stick your finger around. i dont like these to much because the chain pinches your finger too much

theyre pretty easy once you get the hang of them

here are some web sites which have video instructions:

http://members.tripod.com/~PGresh/moveindex.htm

http://www.ninjitsu.com/Video_Gallery/Video_-_Weapons/Nunchaku_Videos/nunchaku_videos.html

on the second link i believe they call them "wrist rolls" if you can do these, you can do finger spins.

good luck.

My question to you is...why do you want to do a finger spin? It's not a legitimate weapons technique.

My suggestion is to get a twirling baton. Better balanced, and you can light the ends on fire for more flashiness.

you should know by now some people want to do things cos they think it looks cool.

some guys like to see jumping 540s finishing with a double kick.

some people prefer to see a perfect forearm deflection that collapses the opponent's structure making him fall into a punch.

Yeah well i like both coz i like traditional stuff but i also like the flashy stuff aswell!

I'm not one of those people that just wants to start karate to do the flashy stuff coz i've been training for 11 years so far and i'd just like to learn some other stuff that i couldn't do before! :)

a finger spin may be just for show, but a wrist spin isn't.

it's used to quickly change grips.

my advice is to use those sites and learn wrist spins. then work on finger spins.

Yeah, you're right. But in my opinion, it's ruining the martial arts with this junk. What I'm seeing to much of in other dojo's are instructors that don't know what they're doing, teaching themselves a lot of fancy junk like we're talking about here, and passing that junk on to their students who accept it (not knowing any better) as legitimate technique.

y'know, my sifu is almost the opposite of that.

we were going through some shaolin pole forms and he just said, we can ignore this bit cos it's just performance, leave this, it's just traditional bowing.

still makes us perform the whole form though.

good for us he says....
