Ripper Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Because Xingyi is done always rooted. But why are you always rooted? René
Practice is the key _ Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Genarate power by tensing your whole body. Somone love oneSomone love twoI love one That one is myself just have been turn down....
JerryLove Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 But why are you always rooted? Why doe Xingyi do that? Becuase of the power, stability, and iron-body effects of it.Genarate power by tensing your whole body. Tension is, to make a generalization, bad. You would do far better to generate power by keeping your body relaxed... and you are much harder to hurt then as well. https://www.clearsilat.com
Ripper Posted January 24, 2004 Posted January 24, 2004 Why doe Xingyi do that? Becuase of the power, stability, and iron-body effects of it.Could you ellaborate on that? How does that give you more power? What are iron-body effects and how does that work in being rooted? René
JerryLove Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 How does that give you more power? Did you ever push a car? Can you push the car with your weight above it (the way you might push a grocery cart) or do you need to get your weight under it and push with your legs? That's the rooted push, that's how some pushands people I know practice, that's how root=power. What are iron-body effects and how does that work in being rooted? There's no one answer to that, and I don't have a vocabulary to explain much of it... the same thing that makes rooted have more power (drawing power from the ground) gives the rooted person more iron (rooting power into the ground)... but that's not the whole of it. Grab somone with good rooting skills... have them stand up high and just drop a moderate punch on their chest. Then have them really root down and repeat... feel the difference. https://www.clearsilat.com
Ripper Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 This only shows that you need the ground as a reaction force; not to generate more power. When you stand up high, offcourse you are not as stable; it's because your point of gravity is higher. It doesn't mean you can generate more power in your technique. Look at my previous posts to see how you can generate more power. The only reason you need the ground is, as I said before, as a reaction force. René
Drunken Monkey Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 so doesn't it follow that the more reaction you are getting from the ground, the more power you are 'generating'? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Ripper Posted February 1, 2004 Posted February 1, 2004 No, your muscles, technique, speed and gravity are the only sources for giving more power. The ground is a stable factor. It doesn't change. You can't get more power from the ground. René
Drunken Monkey Posted February 1, 2004 Posted February 1, 2004 sounds like someone doesn't understand basic physics... all actions have an equal and opposite reaction and seeing as you are standing up when you are punching, the only thing you have to react against is the ground. it doesn't matter how much power you can get from your body, if you aren't grounded you aren't going to be able to use the power because you will quite simply fall over. the more grounded you are (i.e the more reaction you are getting from the ground bar frictional forces) the more power you can use. hence, by grounding yourself, you are harnessing MORE power. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Ripper Posted February 1, 2004 Posted February 1, 2004 sounds like someone doesn't understand basic physics...if you want to go that way...I know someone too....... (that someone probably is suffering from the intoxication )all actions have an equal and opposite reaction and seeing as you are standing up when you are punching, the only thing you have to react against is the ground.Absolutely right, I was saying the same. the more grounded you are (i.e the more reaction you are getting from the ground bar frictional forces) the more power you can use. hence, by grounding yourself, you are harnessing MORE power. And there is where you go wrong, my friend. You cannot get more grounded; the only thing the ground can give you is the power YOU give to it; as you agreed it is a REACTION force. So you cannot get MORE power from the ground. René
