Breakdancer Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 chinese arts is known by america for acrobatics which is pretty deceitful true chinese wushu emphasize very effective techniques, but anyways dont wanna get off topic but chinese is known for acrobatics or having no power being too soft(which is not true...)
monkeygirl Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Chinese arts seem to be known for fluid, beautiful motion (i.e.: Tai Chi and Kung Fu...and don't tell me that Kung Fu just means hard work, I don't have a more specific style name for you ), emulation of animals, and the arts are known for being "softer" styles. Anyway, those are the stereotypes I'm familiar with. I don't have any personal experience with a Chinese Art, so I can't give you the facts. I'll move this to the Chinese Arts Forum. 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.
Treebranch Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Chinese MA's is where all MA's stemed from. Chinese MA's are awesome, but not many people are teaching it's true application. Martial_Artist Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Uh, chinese martial arts are not where all martial arts stem from. But, as to what the chinese arts are famous for. From my experience the chinese arts are more known for being internal arts than external. That's the general sterotype. While there are external arts, I'm sure. The stress is more on the internal martial artist. "I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination.Imagination is more important than knowledge.Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." Einstein
Treebranch Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 O.K. let me rephrase. Not all MA's, the majority of Asian countries that have MA's stem from China. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
Drunken Monkey Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 i think chinese martial arts are famous for 'not working'... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Breakdancer Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 no chinese martial arts is much different because usually an experienced wushu practitioner doesn't seek fame such as other martial arts, you learn to become modest and it effects your everyday life and your personallity, the kung fu people have a bad rep on being * in fights only cuz of UFC and other *
Drunken Monkey Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 um, try to not to use wushu as an example. even wushu guys don't claim they can fight... if you know anything about chinese martial arts then you will know that within their own systems there is good ol' 'fah quan, shou tui'. modern wushu/quo-shu is a prime example of this. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Treebranch Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 Yeah Drunken Monkey, Kung Fu San Soo is famous for not working. LOL! "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
