stl_karateka Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 I learned the Matsubayshi ShorinRyu version of Passai last night...that's a very nice kata! I love the sweeping search type moves --- so graceful --- but then there is also explosion and powerful moves! It has elements of Rohai, and Pinan Godan in it too. Thought I'd share KarateForums.com Sempai
karatekid1975 Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 I'm Jealous! Bassai is a 2nd dan form for us. But in TSD, it was a cho dan bo (black balt canadaite form). I want to learn it soooooooo bad. But I get to learn Nahanchi first P.S. Sorry for the spelling, I'm in a hurry. Laurie F
stl_karateka Posted November 5, 2003 Author Posted November 5, 2003 Nahanchi is short and sweet. IsshinRyu only has one, ShorinRyu has Nahanchi shodan, nidan, and sandan KarateForums.com Sempai
karatekid1975 Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 We learn all three also. It looks like pretty cool forms. I can't wait to learn them. Laurie F
shotochem Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 I was wondering, how different is the ShorinRyu version of Passai compared to the Shotokan Bassai?? I haven't seen it. Id like to catch a couple of clips of other styles doing similar katas. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
stl_karateka Posted November 5, 2003 Author Posted November 5, 2003 I have a friend in Shotokan and seen Bassai --- its different enough that I can't do it after watching him but similiar enough that I knew it was related to our version of Passai without him telling me Clips...hmmm.....thats a good idea! I have a camera but I don't have video editing software --- otherwise I'd swap kata clips with anyone who wanted to. KarateForums.com Sempai
