I learned the Matsubayshi ShorinRyu version of Passai last night...that's a very nice kata! :)

I love the sweeping search type moves --- so graceful --- but then there is also explosion and powerful moves!

It has elements of Rohai, and Pinan Godan in it too.

Thought I'd share :karate:

I'm Jealous! Bassai is a 2nd dan form for us. But in TSD, it was a cho dan bo (black balt canadaite form). I want to learn it soooooooo bad. But I get to learn Nahanchi first :P :D

P.S. Sorry for the spelling, I'm in a hurry.

Nahanchi is short and sweet. IsshinRyu only has one, ShorinRyu has Nahanchi shodan, nidan, and sandan :)

I was wondering, how different is the ShorinRyu version of Passai compared to the Shotokan Bassai??

I haven't seen it. :-?

Id like to catch a couple of clips of other styles doing similar katas. :)

Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.

I have a friend in Shotokan and seen Bassai --- its different enough that I can't do it after watching him but similiar enough that I knew it was related to our version of Passai without him telling me

Clips...hmmm.....thats a good idea! I have a camera but I don't have video editing software --- otherwise I'd swap kata clips with anyone who wanted to.
