martialartsresearcher
I was wondering today. is there such types of dojos that welcome all martial artists to train there regardles of style? im mean there has to be such a dojo that would complement all or almost all martial art style there is, and allow martial artists to learn from other martial artists that also come there to improve there skill. so is there such a dojo that will let you train there regardless of your style? i know its better to go to a dojo that teaches the martial art style you are training in, but still a dojo that would allow you to train there regardless of style would sound like a pretty good thing on one level.so do these types of dojos exist? monkeygirl
What you're describing is basically the "perfect art". All arts would combine and leave in only the good stuff. It sounds good in theory, but it's a mind-boggling task. Certain styles contradict each other in technique and training methods, so then it could turn into a struggle between "whose art is superior". It would be hard to develop a curriculum, let alone a ranking system (if there even was a system!). I don't know of any dojos that are attempting to do this. Perhaps instead of a dojo that puts all styles together, how about a club or organization that meets once a week? Each individual member of the club would continue with their regular training, and use the club as a method of exchanging ideas, theories, techniques, training methods, hold tournaments, etc. I think it could be absolutely incredible. Sure, there would be a fight or two along the way, but hopefully they could compromise and work it out. 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard. battousai16
there are lots of clubs like that at colleges, at least round here in the US... well, at least 'round here in WI. people from all sorts of MA back rounds come and train with eacother. i go there all the time when i visit my sister for a weekend; it's great fun and you can learn a lot "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Hybrid
Things like this go on everyday. Many people from various styles meet by inviting people from other styles to come watch or participate and exchange techniques. I know there have been many "conventions" I guess you could say put together. I'm sure there are schools that do this on a regular basis, you just have to find one lol. Many people do these things on a lower scale. I've seen people invite people from other styles to come and share techniques at a dojo or home.
