Sho-ju Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 Last night my dojo had a couple of Aikido black belts come in and show us a little of the bokken they do. Any thoughts on Aikido's use of the bokken?
Hybrid Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 What did you think of the demonstration? Yes, good question. What did you think? I have no first hand experience with aikido's use of the bokken. Just what I've read in books, magazines, internet etc. “Iron is full of impurities that weaken it; through forging, it becomes steel and is transformed into a razor-sharp sword. Human beings develop in the same fashion.” ~Morihei Ueshiba

The tips about cutting with the tip of the sword, moving uki's mind and how to hold a sword were interesting. He's going to continue to come to my dojo and teach my people bokken.
