I'm an artist and love art.

It's the school above my apartment.

I was sick of hearing the noise every class, so I decided to sign up.

being beaten up and intimidated by various guys when I was young. I was a wimp who didn't know how to fight or take a hit.

Watched films where I saw fights and martial artists were the best to watch ever.

found a karate club and watched in awe the moves/ kata/ sparring sessions. Joined up and though it took me a few years to get not even to my black belt I grew in confidence from 0 to 90%.

there must be something about the way I walk now since no one ever picks a fight with me.

I thank my instructors and desire to improve myself.

700 hours of official training. Injury finished me dammit!

I was sick of lifting weights..... so I joined to learn how to become more flexible and self defence was something I was always interested in. I love it now..

well, my first school was shut down because my sensei kept allowing people to train for free when they couldn't pay and he eventually ran out of money and had to move (i still admire him to this day). i didn't want to quit the martial arts and the school who, in my opinion in the immediate area had the best istructors was a hwa rang do school. i looked into it and they had a good balance of striking, grappling, and weapons, and everyone in the class seemed to be having a lot of fun. so i went with it and am still training.

Out of curiosity, why don't you have it listed as one of you arts? :-?

you know, i just noticed that. tae soo do IS hwa rang do, it's what they call the earlier ranks. it's simplified hwa rang do. i've started practising in more advanced classes though, i'll throw it in :)

My mom signed my little brother up for nearby TKD school and said I couldn't go because I was a girl. I begged and pointed out that there were a few other girls in class, and she finally let me. My little brother dropped out after he got his yellow belt, and I've stuck with it to this day. Martial arts ended up being "my thing", and I think I should thank my brother for helping me get started so young. Thanks li'l bro!

I never really knew anything else. It's just something I've been doing my entire life. Heck, when I was in elementary school I thought everybody knew martial arts. I had been doing it since before I could even speak, so you can imagine my surprise when I got into my first school fight and the other kid got creamed. I was like, "wait a minute, why didn't he fight back? Why is he crying? Why can't he punch right?" I have since, however, learned otherwise, but it's something I can't get out of my blood. I mean it's as natural to kick and punch as it is to walk for me.

The martial arts is just me, I didn't know much of anything else until I grew older.

Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." Einstein
