I would say both but probably judo i mean if you knock somone out wit h a poweful punch. Theres buses everywhere and they could say you started it and police can se evidence hes been whopped hard or suamt. but with judo throws will not be easy to tell that hes been hurt ( but thats just my opinion ) ( but if your go and learn boxing i would wait till ure quite old. I mean your face can be destroyed at boxing clubs ( mainly the street thugs do boxing ive noticed well at my education school ne ways they allways say i do boxing / kick boxing and they are thugs but iem sure theirs nice boxers :karate: ( no t to be ffencive to the boxers its just my experience ( sorry if did offend ya  :bawling:

I would say Boxing.Judo does too much groundwork for self defense.Because out on the streets if you go 2 the ground your face is gonna me mashed into the back of your head.

Judo emphasizes throwing people to the ground. but like any good system they teach you what to do if you end up there instead of living 10 years in the past where people talked about how ground fighting was no good in real life and then didint prepeare themselves for reality then they get taken down and look like a fish out of water getting pounded into a bloody mess...

Maybe I will add a twist to this now. What style would you choose, or which style would you rather not face on the street if the individual was EXTREMELY strong. A bench press of 300 lbs and able to squat 400ish.

This is ridiculous! How many times does it have to be proven that both have merits? I think that a lot of it depends on your build. If you have a short squat body, judo may be better for you. IF you have long limbs, than maybe boxing is a good idea. All things being equal in terms of instruction and intensity. People dont realize that it is quite easy to add a self-defense element into sport boxing. Throw elbows instead of fists, etc. But on the other hand, judo provides a wider variety of skills. IMO the most underused thing in all of grappling is footsweeps.

If my survival means your total destruction, then so be it.

I've done both. If you want to remember your childhood in 20 years, do Judo.

you'll be able to remember your childhood, but due to knee problems, you won't be able to walk! :D

boxing. it teaches you how to punch? more like it teaches you to pound the crap out of something. thats what street fights are virtually every time. the only person id give any possible advantage to against a boxer on the street is a wrestler, a kickboxer, or some crazy-skilled person like bruce lee.

but, if the person can bench 300lbs and youre nowhere near that size, for gods sake run. if you have to, kick out his knee, punch him in the throat, or get a gun and shoot him- and then run. dont count on a martial art to save you if youre small and the other guys huge.

Where are you going to learn skills like kicking out the knee and striking the troat properly? I thought that is something you would learn in martial arts. :D

its not that hard to know how to do. forget properly, think effectively. punch him in the throat, kick his knee sideways... anyone can figure that out. and surely a boxer is capable.
