Martial_Artist Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Having lived in the Philippines, particularly, for several years, I can concur that the majority of fights(that I was witness to and participant in) ended with a blow to the head, neck area. Guy_Who_Fights Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 There you go! In my opinion that was much more informative than your previous post. It offered a much clearer opinion and a wealth of information. When you addressed 1ONEfighting and then continued to use the term "you" for the remainder of the post, it read as though you were putting him down throughout the post. Thanks for clearing it all up. Reguardless, your second post cleared away the vagueness of your previous one and offered a greater amount of beneficial information. 1ONEfighting Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 J-Lo, your post may not have been meant as a personal attack, but it was delivered in a patronizing manner to say the least. Rest assured, when training unarmed striking, the pads and safety measures are minimal. (mouthpiece, cup). With weapons we try to keep the utmost safety in mind with the optimum amount of realism. It is a give and take that we are more than willing to make. I said we trained full contact. We do. Full power, full speed, full commitment. Did I say it was real? No. I have no illusions when it comes to streetfighting. I can only hope that my superior preparation will lead me to victory should the situation arise. Trainwreck Tiemeyerwishes he was R. Donkey Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Listen in the end you have to go full contact. Of corse this depends on what level your at and what style u take. In traditional muy thai schools they recruit the kids at 9 or ten and they usually fight (full contact) a week after they've started. Then they start to learn at the schools. I see a lot of BJJ fighters who are 20yrs old out of Brazil with over a 100 victories so they've been fighting since young. Both of these types of fighters in their respective styles usually wipe the floor with anyone else because if it's not full contact it's not real and tne rest is just theories Teix
Nick_14 Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 I think it should be no contact for white belts & beginner yellow belts, but orange i think should be full contact
aefibird Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 Why no contact for white & beginner yellow belts? If there's gonna be contact in later belts, you might as well start somewhere. I think that some level of contact (I'll not say what, people have their own opinions)is necessary when training, even if it can never be truly 'realistic', like in a street fight. At least with contact fighting you're more prepared for if you get into a street fight, because you know what it feels like to be hit. Dojo fighting can't ever be 100% like a street fight (maybe be 99.9% like one though!) but you just gotta hope that the training and practicing willl pay off and you'll have the advantage. JerryLove Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 said we trained full contact. We do. Full power, full speed, full commitment. Did I say it was real? No. I How is it different from real? What makes this not a fight? https://www.clearsilat.com
SevenStar Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 the nature of it... no doubt it's real, but the intention behind it is not one of hostility. Nentheless, what is learned will definitely serve him well in a fight.
JerryLove Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 no doubt it's real, but the intention behind it is not one of hostility. Nentheless, what is learned will definitely serve him well in a fight. So if I hit you as hard as I can, with as much correctness and skill as I can, and with full "commitment"; I won't hurt you because I don't want to? Is that your assertion? https://www.clearsilat.com
