White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. Ok, Looking for basic information- just started Iaido, and am looking onto infomation- not buying today- on a good live blade. I cant mortgage the house, so I ahve to make some concessions, however want to know is the most important features that a truly battle ready sharpened sword should have. Blade Harness? Folded? Damascus? Full tang or hapf tang- how does it effect true balance and true battlefield application? Not looking to take one to war, but want to be as authentic as $ will allow. Also any experience with the following- Ryumon Masahiro™ Bushido "Ronin Duel" Katana Thanks
  2. We do continuous contact, and allow controlled full contract- in other words, you can kick or punch them in the face, just don't try to take thier block off. Thanks PS- found that the snap/thrust to the guts works well last night....just looking for hints as I MIGHT be going to a tournament next weekend as an orange belt in Cont contact... Any pointers?
  3. All, I have found that snap and crescent kicks are my best kicks at this point- what is in your opinions the best way to apply them in sparring? Been using the front leg snap kick as a jab.... Thanks
  4. It is not about the item being stolen, but the idea that folks are not obeying the law of the land. Anyone who enters my home to steal will get both barrels of number 2 buck. Wouldn't have to chase anyone, just call in the body baggers. Dead folks don't sue.
  5. New to the boards, Chris is the name, I took TKD for 4 years in the 80's, just got back into it this past January. At the same school (Smith's) that I was when a youngster, and love it...not sure why I ever quit. Not as fast, flexible or light as I used to be, but I ahve dropped 5\47 punds since I started, with a combination of exercise and diet, and now fit in a size 5 gi. Hope to make green before January rolls around. that was my highest in the 80's. It is not about the blets for though, it is about self defense, skill and confidence. See you all on the boards.
  6. So basically a butterfly stretch? Thanks, and will try to "chamber"better. Still looking to fix this, as it seems to really hamper sparing for me- I tend to do more side kicks, and natually they are slower than spin or roundhouse kicks. Thank again, will give it a try
  7. All, I have recently (10 months back) started back into TKD, and while I realize I am now 36, I am having a much harder time with Roundhouse and spin Kicks. I cannot seem to get them any higher than the low waist. what stretching can I do to losen the hips? My snap kicks are plenty high, and my side kicks a decent too- chest height- Is it more of a form issue? I feel I am pivoting properely, haved been told such, but cant get any height. Suggestions?
