White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. the techniques are almost exactly the same, but the emphasis is different
  2. i do not at all advocate striking first and asking questions later. i advocate asking questions first and striking if the answer is not satisfactory. u can usally tell what directipon an encounter is headed before someone starts swinging
  3. have you seen Starship Troopers? remember when the recruit tries to say that knife fughting is useless? taht is how u need to like at martial arts. unconciousness or death renders all technology useless. there are no dangerous weapons only dangerous men with weapons. people get killed running away all the time. u cannot out run bullets either. if attacked i will do my best to kill or maim my opponent (depending on the situation). agression is not the answer but neither isd passivioty. after all if i fight i will probably have the oppurtuniyty to run, but not the other way around. pick what fits the situation
  4. tkd is almost the opposite of boxing. strangely boxing is recognized as an effective style and tkd is hated on. the power of tkd lies in its versitality. everyone can throw hands to some degree. your average street fighter is not mike tyson so the odds are that youre at least on equal ground in hand techniques. if you take the time to learn the hand techniques then u should be able to inflict some damage. as far as grappling is concerned streetfighters dont have much training in that either so the little grapplingn training that tkd students recieve should be enough to supplement your natural skills. if it goes to the ground then u messed up earlier. when it comes to kicking NOTHING is better than tkd. a good tkd fighter should be able to perform ANY kick at ANY range. even clenching range. even thai kicks. the only reason a tkd fighter should lose against a street fighter is if theyre to dumb to realize that its not a tournament. i train in a wtf school and i still utilize all weapons and fight at all ranges.
  5. i agree that good judgement is an important part of training ,but realistically most martial arts training consists highly of fighting or martial ssports techniques. hopefully the student already has decent judgement otherwise he will catch a beatdown at white belt
  6. that is a common cliche. in all reality tkd has very little to do with avoiding conflict. after all most people knew how to run away before taking tkd. american tkd may be a little different but in korea its still trained as a martial art. a good teacher should teach you how to fight. if u want to run take track
  7. the 30%-70% is another drunken master reference. the villain does tkd and says its "30% hand 70 feet" I used to train at World Classic Martial Arts
  8. lol of course u have. didnt notice the GZA quote
  9. lol im guessing youve been listning to wu-tang (the rappers)? if no then that is who that legend tends to be associated with
  10. id love to see someone take a push kick when i have my timbs on . if kicks are kept at mid-level and thrown wisely the they can be quite effective
  11. just saying hi. i practice tkd and wrestling. currently im teaching myself (just left my old school) but i hope to find a school soon. does anyone know of any schools near the AUC in Atlanta? peace
