  1. When you do take your jiu jitsu classes and if he wants you to teach him you can be "diplomatic" and tell him that you haven't learnt anything that he doesn't know already. Whatever you do don't teach him any techniques as people who are violently inclined will be more likely to make any technique work for them. This is because such people will enter conflicts with a lot of INTENT. Intent on its own can win you fights. Intent combined with technique can be a powerful weapon which in the wrong hands can cause a lot of damage/suffering. See, my other brother who's actually "tangled" with the eldest said the main thing about him is when he's fighting he doesn't care how bad he hurts you. and that's my brother talking about my other brother, i just don't see how a person who is actually a very intelligent individual can act like a g.d. caveman......
  2. I've been looking into and reading all about martial arts latly and I plan on taking jiu jitsu once I've learned a little more about it. My big brother who is around 250 lbs. , a violent drunk, and a good fighter, wants me to teach him what I learn. This guy flys off the handle over nothing sometimes, and if i tell him I'm not gonna teach him jack he'll prolly fly off the handle about that too, if i teach him one of the main purposes of my learning self defense will be in vain. what can i do to avoid these sort of conflicts with him. btw, he's the type who feels he has to be the alpha male all the time as well.....
  3. So, I'm checking out jiu jitsu classes and i'm really looking forward to it. My brother who is probably 250 lbs. , has a very bad temper, drinks alot of the time and his temper explodes out of no where, and is a really good fighter and very brutal when it comes to fighting. he want's me to teach him what i learn and stuff, which I say is a very bad Idea, one of the reasons i wanna learn martial arts is to make sure he never hits me or anyone else in my house again. what should I do? if i say no it may start a conflict and if i say yes my training will be of no use when he decides to fly off the handle again.
  4. so, if someone say enjoyed a marijuana cigarette from time to time, they'd get expelled?
  5. Yeah, I've played for a small audience last year and i kinda know you mean, but our equipment was messed up too. back to my question, are tournaments and all that jazz like full contact or what? cause if someone kicked me in the face i'd prolly be pretty upset about it lol
  6. I believe chi's mastering the focus of your energy however you want at will. I saw something on youtube where this dude was leaning his neck on spears it was pretty cool. it's gotta be real
  7. sweet, no, i'm not talking about spiritual in a religious sense, but like you said a fighting spirit be more in tune with my senses and all that junk
  8. The town in which I live only provides Jiu Jitsu lessons. it's fourty bucks for five lessons or some junk like that and i really have no means of getting out of town to seek other trainers. my main question is what's jiu jitsu all about?
  9. I've never taken a self - defense class or any Martial Arts classes ever....in my life. Maybe some Tai Bo in middle school. I'm 19 I chain smoke and I'm out of shape. I'm wanting to enroll in these Jiu Jitsu classes at the Y but, I'm curious about a few things. Do martial arts discipline you if you want it and all that junk, and is there really a spiritual side to it? I'm not being dumb this is a 100% real question. I've been wanting to start that class for a month or so now, but I've not had time as of yet.
