White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. Anyone? The only thing I could find about it was a couple pages in this http://books.google.com/books?id=ZsacvIAjnKwC&pg=PA81&lpg=PA81&dq=janna+style+martial+arts&source=web&ots=9JODXAbqfj&sig=1_5QY0cGol-Rd2ZkpuM7wEooE5A It was the unarmed fighting style of the Hashshashin (Assassins) in the Middle East during (I think) the 11th-12th centuries. Anyone have any info about it?
  2. I was at an ATA school for about 4 years, i can't really say on the first question, but as for 2. Yeah, they do. when I was there I saw 8 year old black belts...I was like wow...I don't think and 8 year old can fully grasp the concepts, but as long as they could memorize the kata, they got promoted.... 3. Well...my school was pretty good, our instructor didn't really do everything for show and we did some real life scenario training.
  3. Hahahaha...the guy in the white got dropped like 3 times.
  4. ok, thanks guys
  5. One of my friends told me once, that if you ever get into a fight on the street, and you happen to have a lighter on you, you should have it in your hand when you make a fist because it fills up some of the empty space in your fist and gives you a more solid punch, has anyone else heard of this?
  6. I dont think many types of martial arts require a certain religion, but the meditation that some forms use may do something for your spirituality, give you some insight on your beliefs, at least it did for me, it really all depends on what type you choose.
  7. In the street, someone WOULD attack you like that, if your getting mugged they wouldn't hold anything back and try to control themselves, as for sparring, if he needs to learn control, and is throwing really hard punches, try getting him on speed, throw a few punches for every one he throws. Try sidestepping when he throws a punch and getting him in the ribs.
  8. I'm in the Daytona Beach/Ormond Beach area, I found one school, but It's about a 2 hours drive from where I live, in Fort Lauderdale, and I don't think I'd be able to do that.
  9. I had someone tell me that at school once when he found out I was into martial arts, then he put his hands up in about the worst boxing stance I've ever seen, I just kinda laughed and walked away, so did everyone else, and he was just left standing there for a few seconds.
  10. hey, for those of you looking to order anything online, this website has a lot of stuff,http://www.weaponmasters.com/ im thinking of ordering a Sai set from here, and maybe a pair of ninja claws, cuz those are cool
  11. yes, it was an ATA school
  12. well, you could probably get some videos, to teach you some basic techniques, but i agree with what the others said, you can try teaching yourself, but its definetly better to learn from someone who knows what they are doing.
  13. I am looking for a baguazhang school near me, but i cant seem to find one, i was wondering if anyone knew of a website where you could search for one? I tried looking it up on google but couldn't come up with anything.
  14. Hello everyone, just joined, and I can already tell this is a great forum. I am 15 years old, I practiced taekwondo for 4 years (got my black belt in those four years, but not the best school , that stupid karate for kids place, but, its better than nothing.) and I am really interested in learning Baguazhang, Northern Shaolin, and Aikido.
