I posted a while ago about a kickboxing fitness class I was starting at my school. We figured out how much to charge for it, but I feel I am not being paid adequately for teaching it. I am the Program Director and run the school along with the owner. I am the only employee. I exclusively teach the 3-4 year olds (I program which had 3 kids in it when I took it over. It has more than tripled just a few months.) I currently get 10% commission of their enrollment fee when they sign up, which only amounts to $10. They pay $75 a month, plus a $40 testing fee every three months, and I don't get commission off of any of that. Secondly, I have created the new fitness kickboxing class, which I developed and teach excusively also. He provides the building, but has nothing else to do with the class. I could go and teach it at any gym. The percentage of their tuition I am currently paid is roughly around $4 per class. Not even minimum wage. I am in the process of changing the payment structure of this class from monthly to $120 for 10 classes and want to propose fair payment on my part so it is worth it for me to teach. I am paid a salary, but that amount was established before I started teaching either class. I am concerned I am not being compensated fairly for what I do now. Any thoughts??
