This is a great flick! Tony Jaa is a phenomenal athlete. I hope he gets an American following. I could see him being the next BIG asian action star here.

From my experience, it all depends on your instructors. As a white belt, we were taught many effective (situational) self defense techniques along with the standard curriculum. A good instructor will teach the beginning ranks practical self defense....no matter which art.
