  1. It may follow back to a mistake in the crest of shotokan karate. The badge may have been below originally, but a clerical error, places it above. this is not a karate related answer but it does answer the question in a manner of speaking. the test of time can change things dramatically. One of the badges is the original and one is a 'mistake' so to speak. as i saif before, mybe not right, but if the shoe fits...
  2. I do Shotokan Karate and our stances are quite low. the dimenstions are 1 shoulder width wide by 2 shoulder widths long with the back leg locked out and the front knee parallel with your foot. try it. it is pretty deep. but that is Basics and kata. Kumite is a different matter.
  3. i wear all white for Karate and a black to and white bottoms for Kobudo
  4. My favourite kata is split between 2. which is Heian Nidan and Tekki Sandan. Tekki Sandan has basic techniques but it is very difficult to accomplish successfully. But non-the-less i must be doing something right as i have won 2 competitions with it. (is well proud) Heian Nidan is actually a difficult kata in itself. with basic things as returning kicks and getting new techniques right likr Uru Zuki etc... anyway, that's me
  5. If i am not mistaken, Nunchaku are originally short corded. as they become the length of your arm and the nunchaku combined to create a very long range weapon. why would you want a silent pair of nunchaku in the first place? a pre-emptive attack would more than likely be from behind with a choak to the throat, where the short cord becomes effecive. the only weapon i can think of that is universal and very effective is the Bo, correct me if i am wrong, but after talking to some very respected Kobudo instructors over here in england, they all agree that nunchaku are originally short corded as they were used as a farming impliment. so why would they have a long cord?
