DIABLO replied to unDertow's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I agree with ken, that in order to stop the grappler you have to understand what he is trying to do. Do either of you guys or anyone no anything about shootboxing? -
Kicks in a self-defense situation.
DIABLO replied to Angus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
If you are going to kick, just make sure that you snap it back , and don't leave it hanging in the air. In sparring you might be lucky and get away with it, but in a street fight that is how you will end up on the ground. -
Counter uppercut / hook
DIABLO replied to DIABLO's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Keeping your chin down isn't advice. it's common sense. I didn't say I was getting killed, it's just a weakness. Does anyone have any good head movement drills , and also drills to make your opponent miss? -

Really good smile faces !!!!

I find that I have problems with opponents who use a lot of uppercut / hook combinations when they are in tight. I usually try to throw a quicker hook then they do, or make the uppercut miss and throw a strong jabb or straight right hand to the chin. I'm interested in what other people would do in the same situation?????

If you can find it the movie is called ' The Deadliest Art'. It is a documentary showing the greatest fight clips out of martial arts movies .. some pretty cheesy but some very good. One fight sequence with jackie chan vs. benny 'the jet' urquidez is the most amazing one I have ever seen -

Sparring Tips Please!
DIABLO replied to Kickbutt's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
U have get him as he steps in. Throw a jab to the chin, a leading hook or even foot sweep. If he dosen't go down from the sweep he will loose his balance which will give you time to move out into striking range. -
New Jet Li Movie!!!
DIABLO replied to Kickbutt's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Haven't seen it couple of my friends said the movie is O.K. fighting sequences in it are really good. -
When someone out ways u by one hundred pounds and is two feet taller than u, there isn't much u can do. But u don't have to be massive to have alot of strength. If it is 2 untrained people in a street fight 99% of the time the bigger guy wins. When it is 2 trained guys the better fighter with explosive strength will win. The amaller guy has to able to take the bigger guys shot. He will be able to do this if he is stronger, regardless who is the bigger guy.

Streetfighting?
DIABLO replied to Sissy's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Every situation on the street is different. Every attacker is different, and has learned different things. I would say for your friend to try different martial arts and see which one he thinks works the best for him. This will give him the most confidence. In a street fight confidence helps u stay calm and think. That will help u out the most, no matter what your trained in. -

Your oppinion on boxing
DIABLO replied to Lars's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Boxing is to much about the money . I don't like heavy weight boxing, but the middle weight matches are good. Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosely, Vargas , De la Hoya. I like watching them fight, very entertaining because they know how to fight. -

Spinning Kicks
DIABLO replied to Angus's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Spinning kicks are dangerous to your target, but are also danderous to use. The power created with a spining back kick is devestating. If ever landed cleanly I don't care who you are, your going down!!!! They are flashy, but also valueable to anyone who wants to be a complete fighter. U just have to learn when to use them and when not to.
