  1. i think kata is the best part of karate. i always feel relaxed after practicing them, it is an excelent form of exercise and works the mind too. i think team kata looks really cool too

thanks for all the advice everyone....and to rick, i don't know any longer katas, your katas must be different to ours because our pinan nidan doesn't have any kicks in it. cheers, heva
  6. hey, if you saw my other post, you will know that i have just returned to karate after a few years. well i have a competition coming up. i am still undecided which kata i am going to do, pinan nidan or pinan shodan. i remember pinan nidan the most and it is my best kata at the moment. but i am a green belt and i think it would look better if i done pinan shodan, as i have time to polish it up for the competition. what does everyone think? cheers, heva
  7. thanks for that alsey, il have a look
  8. thankyou for that.that was interesting. in the karate i do we have: Pinan Nidan Pinan Shodan Pinan Sandan Pinan Yodan ect. so we must do 2nd step (nidan) before 1st step (shodan) then. hmmmm just out of curiousity, what does 'Pinan' mean?
  9. This is the kind of thread that I joined this forum for. I'm Ian, I'm also 15, and I just went back a few months ago, after 3 years or so. I got to shodan, and then I quit. When I went back, I found the classes to be excruciating, physically. The katas that I knew to get to shodan were replaced by other ones, that I now have to learn. So I can't really help there. Anyway, It's been about half a year, and I now find that classes don't bother me physically anymore, just because the repetition of the exercise really does wonders for endurance. We're not really a tournament dojo, so I'm afraid I can't help with anything like that. Hope that helps! yes thats interesting, im interested in the katas in your style of karate.i do wadu ryu and we do a kata called 'pinan shodan' is that the same as what you called 'shodan'? and what other katas do you do? cheers, heva
  10. thankyou everyone for the warm welcome, i am on my 3rd week back and i should be getting my uniform today thanks again, heva xXx
  11. cool i wish i had never stopped karate, when i see the people i used to see there 5years ago, i realise i could have been much further now. but i guess i found it too hard when i was only 10 lol.
  12. hi everyone!! im heather im 15 n ive just returned to karate as a green belt after 5 years. I used to do it for about 6 years before i gave it up i used to compete in katas, which i enjoyed most. ive been back for a couple of weeks now and i can't wait to compete again lol. i am finding the classes alright and it is coming back to me really well. i was just wondering if anyone on here has been in a similar situation and how long it took them to get back into it. cheers, Heather;)
