Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. Emailed my Sifu and showed him the pants I wanted to purchase and he said they were fine. What do you people think? http://www.jonieuniforms.com/Shop/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=62 The size I cannot figure out since I am 5'10 and 180 lbs. I think they look fine but I wish I could find the kind of black pants Bruce lee wore in his movies. If anyone has anymore suggestions I will gladly listen.
  2. I am only worried if they rip and I think sweats would be too hot to wear for three hours of straight training. Do you think sifu would be irritated if I wear gi pants?
  3. Do you think it will matter if I order pants that are 100% cotton twill or 50/50 poly/cotton broadcloth? We do ground work and I do not want the pants to tear so I need pants made out of sturdy material. Sifu told me that I only need sweat pants but I figured I could get Kong fu pants instead. This is off topic but at college while waiting for my classes, I have been practicing stances and such and I find that funny.
  4. Does anyone know were to buy a cheap Kung Fu uniform or kung fu pants? I have looked online for an hour and can’t find something in a reasonable price. Thank you
  5. KungFuLuvva, Yeah Sifu says that I am abit awkward with my movements. MizuRyu, I have actually only have had one lesson so far but I love doing it
  6. I have just started training in Hung fa yi Wing Chun. Does anyone want to recall their begging experiences when they started training in Wing Chun or any martial art?
  7. bushido_man96, I think it would be fun to shoot box but I am wondering about its practicality. I talked to the instructor and he said it could be used in self-defense situation but I am unsure. The price I am unsure if I can afford but a month of free classes seems great. I am still interested in Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun but the school I have repeatedly emailed wont contact me back.
  8. Has anyone heard of Shootboxing?
  9. I found a school that teaches shoot boxing and they offer a month of free classes. My only issue is that they charge $79 a month for two one-hour classes a week. How effective would you guys think this would be in a self-defense situation? I know you will probably you only get what you put into it. Shoot boxing uses boxing, kickboxing and jujitsu/submission wrestling which I think would make me well rounded. I am sorry guys about asking questions about different schools repeatedly. Heres the website for the school. http://www.mmamonroemartialarts.com/
  10. I found another school that Im interested in that teaches shootboxing can you guys tell me what you think. http://www.mmamonroemartialarts.com/
  11. How good of a style is shootboxing in a self defense situation?
  12. The Kenpo School I was interested in does not do sparring. I do not think this is a good thing how are you going to apply what you are learning.
  13. Differences between American kenpo and Tracy's kenpo?
  14. parkerlineage, I have heard there is allot of feuding between both schools. They both teach the same material so shouldn't they both be just as applicable?
  15. Jiffy, I am not talking about a little weight I am talking about being extremely obese In addition, I understand there are those people who have a valid reason for being obese. I remember having a gym teacher who could not run a half mile to save his life but would yell at those people could not run a half mile also. I know people are flawed and we are all from far from being perfect but I would only want a teacher that led by example but yes people should not judge a book by its cover but by its contents.
