  1. I'll try and get a video of myself demonstrating it.
  2. Many people I know just use regular weapons that you can find on the internet or at guns shows. Ahem, boring. Mainly this post is for those who are good with metal working. But you dont have to know that kind of stuff to make your own custom weapon. You can make it however and whatever you want to. My custom weapon was made by me, took about 7 months to make it. Technically, it is actually to make them. It is a pair of dual katanas with fine grade carbon steel blades. What is custom about them is in their hilts though. I carved a screw hole in the bottom of each hilt, making sure they were drilled straight, and bolted on a small interlocking rotation clamp. What it is for, as you may of already guessed, for connecting the two together. When the two interlocking clamps are placed together, you rotate one of the swords and they lock together. This turns my dual katanas into a double bladed one, which actually looks quite cool. To unlock them, you push them together and turn them around twice, which causes the clamps to release. All of my friends were quite impressed with and a few of them have made their own custom weapons, which were also quite impressive. So, if you're into using weapons in your martial arts or the art of the sword, consider making your own weapon and make up your own style own style to fight with it. It is very fun and gives you something unique to have pride in as you continue your MA training or teaching.
  3. One thing I would like to make clear, age doesnt matter in martial arts. You can start at any age still learn to be very good at it. Also, your physique doesn't matter as well, because if you are dedicated it, youe physique will improve naturally as you continue training. I knew someone who was so overweight it wasn't even funny. I got him to try to start MA and I made sure he stuck to it even though sometimes he just gave up. I'm not trying to be like an infomercial with this, but about 3 months later, he was literally a different person. As for the part about age, I started when I was 4 years old. I'm 22 now and I have a 2nd degree black belt. And one of my instructors started when he was 55 and he's now 76, has a 7th degree black belt, and he is amazing when fighting! I was amazed when I saw someone that old move like that. So, as long you keep at it and dont give up, its never too late to start or too hard to start.
  4. Usually, slow moves and strategy are useless in martial arts due to the pace that fights move at. Not this one. This for all you people out there who cant quite grasp the speed factor in martial arts. Mainly when fighting in martial arts, many people focus more on power and speed (PS) rather than strategy and technique (ST). Those who are the PS type generally dont have a plan for battle other than attack, attack, and more attack. The ST type focus on precision and effectiveness of attacks. Just because a strong move hits, if it is not executed correctly, it could have almost no effect. Slow and steady wins the race. The strategy is mainly dodging and looking for perfect opportunities to strike rather than possible chances, as well as using every you chance get after blocking to execute a counter. Sounds simple, huh? Wrong. Being able to read an opponents move is heavily incorporated in this strategy. Also, just because you see a move coming, unless you know how to dodge or block it, you may as well be standing in one place offering a free shot. You need to put as much effort possible into dodging into the first 45 secs and learning their fighting type. Are they an PS type or are they a ST type. Against PS types, dodging and blocking are what you should focus on because of the highly unlikely chance for a counter. Dodge and block while looking for the perfect opportunity of attack. Against ST types, you should focus on counters rather than look for opportunities to attack since the chance for precision attacks will not usually be available. If you stick to this strategy, you should be fine in all of your fights. Good Luck, and I hope my strategy works for you.
  5. (WARNING: When I say devastating, I also mean extremely dangerous, do not attempt if you are an ametuer looking at this post because you thought the topic sounded cool.) As the title says, you must be capable of extremely fast body movements, and when I say fast, thet means FAST. I'm not kidding with this. This move done improperly has a chance of paralyzing or killing the reciever of the attack, which would be a very bad thing to happen. Also, do not dothis move on anything hard, mats and tatamis only. Ok, with all of that said, here is the explanation. First, you have to find a opening in which to do this, about a 3 sec window. Beginning with swinging the leg on the dominate side of your body a full 360 degrees and use the centrifugal force to speed up your rotation. This is done in the form of a sweep kick. Done correctly, when you hit your opponent, they should start falling. Begin rising up and bring the elbow on the non dominate side of you in the form of an elbow smash. The difference is that this is not a smash, but slamming the back of your upper arm into the side of you opponent who is currently falling. This is the dangerous part where if there is not enough speed in your rotation you run the risk of hitting the other person in the side of the head. In almost all cases, although there have only been a few, this causes the neck of the opponent to break, either damaging their spine and paralyzing from the neck down for life, or the highly unlikely but possible breaking of the spinal cord, in which the central nerves are severed and all bodily functions from neck down cease to operate, including the heart, causing the entire body to shutdown and killing the person. You have been warned. With that said, I will continue with the explanation. When you perform the elbow smash, this will cause their falling to slow down. At that time, instantly perform a rondhouse kick with the other leg into the chest of the opponent, causing them to fall and "go down for the count." Please, please, please make sure you are able to do all this in about 3 sec before you use it on someone. I am not responsible for any injuries caused by people using this move.
