White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. I use a pair that I have had for about 6 months. One of the soles came apart very early on and they repaired it very fast. I have since moved to a pair of Addidas Tyrnts which are basically a wrestling shoe.
  2. 42 and counting. I feel great and train three times a week plus I work out five mornings a week with resistance and cardio exercise. BTW, KickChick, we live in the same town.
  3. We use shoes at my studio. Most people wear Discipline or Tiger Claw. I wear discipline's but I'm not very happy with their wear and tear although they are very confortable. One of the senior instructors swears by Addidas Tyrints. They are a wrestling high-top. I may switch to them soon.
  4. Kickchick, where in CT are you located?
  5. I guess I tend to use forums like this to exchange ideas and opinions just like anyone else. It just seems that the other forum that you have a link for in the topic is just full of Animosity. They actually seem to hate each other without really discussing things in an open forum. I love and respect all MAs. It takes a lot of dedication and time and we all choose the art we feel that we want to train in at a particular time. I have trained in TKD, Seido, and Escrima in the past. Right now I train in Shaolin Wushu. Does that mean I don't like the other arts I trained in? Not at all. As a matter of fact had I not moved away I probably would have continued training in Escrima and Kempo.
  6. Jesus! The people are flipping out on that forum.
  7. Kickmaster They are very good for pivoting and dealing with forms on carpeting. My studio is all carpeted. I train in Shaolin Wushu. Lots of spinning, kicking, jumping, etc. Grip is very good, don't want anyone slipping with a broadsword in their hand!
  8. Right now I am using Disciplines. They are very light and comfortable. One of the instructors at my studio uses the Adidas Tyrint. Thye are advertised as a wrestling shoe be he said that once you use these shoes you won't wear anything else. I may try a pair.
  9. No they are fine. Actually I have used them all but I tend to purchase from Karate Depot. If you want really cool shirts (t's, sweat, etc.) check out http://www.superaction.com
  10. I started in TKD and moved to Seido for many years. After an absence due top moving around in the military and work I recently began Shaolin Wushu Kung Fu. I was looking for a good studio to train in this style for many years and chose this style because it is very different from previous styles I had practiced. It is MUCH more difficult than I imagined both mentally and physically. It is not the modern version of Wushu but the older Shaolin style. I have lost considerable weight (which I needed to do and still have more to lose) and feel great.
  11. -: You may want to eduacte yourself on the practice of Shaolin Wushu. There is much more to it than fancy forms. I for one have been involved with MA for almost 30 years practicing TKD, Kali/Escrima, Kenpo, and Seido. As of this moment I am training in Shaolin Wushu. If you think the art has no combat applicability I would suggest next time you are in the states you may want to stop by our studio.
  12. I can tell you that I started Seido style at a young age and left the MA scene for many years because of extensive travel. I have just re-started and I am 41. Its tough but I have been doing better than I though I would. I am also in much better shape even though I work out on a regular basis. Wushu is a very tough art, don't kid yourself.
  13. Has anyone used Iron rings in your day to day training? I have read multiple articles on their use (as well as hard jade rings) and was wondering if anyone could share their personal results of the use of them.
  14. My school is run by a woman and has many female students. Her name is Aiping Cheng. There is an in-depth article on her in the Mar/Apr issue of KungFu Qigong magazine. She teaches Tai Chi and Wushu Kung Fu.
  15. Lau Gar, is this a brand? I'm not sure I understand your post. Maybe its just my ignorance on the subject.
