To all,
I am a southern transplat...dixie tried and true but my question is...do you notice that if you are not from the south you have a negative mentality about the south?
The reason I say this is because my husband and I are going to be heading to Arkansas where I am from for a very important family function. When people ask my husband why we are going there...it seems to be a joke and answers that we are going to Hillbilly Disney Land. He knows that I do not appreciate it
and he tends to get one up side the head for the comment too.
Being up north I notice that if you talk about the "south" people seem to look down on it vs. celebrating it.
Any thought?

Tequila Flower, which part of Montana do you live in? I lived in the south western part for 10 years. I lived in Belgrade, Three Forks, and in Anaconda. I love the big sky in Montana and I miss looking at it. I don't miss always being cold during the winter though.
Have you had lots of snow this winter?
Currently I am in Great Falls. We haven't had too much snow this winter but more than enough below zero weather (even during the day)
I am SOOOO ready for spring...

I have it a little backwards...sorry--long time since history lessons. I must have heard it wrong or just misunderstood. The point does still stand..see quote.
"These skills were developed into Karate, “the empty handed way”, and used by the Okinawans in defence against the Japanese who had invaded the small island chain. The Japanese had banned all metal utensils, knives, metal farm tools, pots and pans. The Okinawans practised the martial arts in complete secrecy and finally gained freedom from the Japanese."

When China invaded Japan way back when, the monks were allowed to continue their Kata training even though all other forms of martial arts were banned....what does this say about Kata??? Even though it does not necessarily look dangerous...it can be used as offence or defence.....
Food for thought!
As the saying goes, do not judge a book by its cover.
