The class I'm attending now was set up nicely. First he gives you 5, 1/2 hour private lessons to test your skills and to teach you a little to show you what the class is about...then after that 5 lessons, you chose whether or not to join or stop. I joined.

I was sparring the brown belts(3 levels of brown, one away from black) when I was a white...of course, I got my ass kicked a couple times, but I managed to fight back and beat them.

I think sparring at white belt level is foolish... Think about it, you got these kids fighting each other when they don't even know how to punch, kick, and block properly...unless you've taken other forms before. I was a natural, so I caught on pretty quick.

Have you ever gotten in a street fight before? I haven't...yet. If so, how long did it take you to react or did you use any of your MA skills?
