Orange Belt

Orange Belt (3/10)

  1. He's a really nice guy also and hilarious, my instructor and him are very good friends and he came to my dojo a couple of times for a seminar and stayed the night we went for dinner, and the next mourning he decides he wants to go golfing... so we all go golfing and we rent a cart and he says 'I feel sooooooo stiff this mourning' so he lifts his leg up and rests it on the golf cart roof and takes a sip of coffee... what a character.lol
  2. Merry XMAS! to all! osu!
  3. I feel its very important to practice and throw your tecniques with commitment, and to have some contact when doing kumite.. you also have to practice equally how to 'attack' and defend one without the other equals zero..
  4. Remember its always about the 'journey' never get down on yourself if you fail a grading, get up and try again! just like life, you learn something about yourself at each grading, its not about the rank! but the 'spirit' of challenge and bushido 'samurai spirit' if you carry that in your heart you will never feel upset if you lose..you will just try harder next time .. good luck.OSU!
  5. Not the greatest... last in there division right now.. but they won there last 2 outings! go Bruins!
  6. Are you looking to learn Traditional Kobudo'? or open tournament flip the tooth pick stick 3000 times a second forms?lol! theres a huge deference.. sport Martial arts.com is all tournament 'open sport'.. totally different then real tradional bo forms e.t.c... look to guys like tadashi yamashita, Richard kim, fumio demura for the traditional stuff. good luck
  7. The thing some people dont relize about fighting on the street is you never want to stand and exchange punches and kicks, like a full contact match...why? your putting yourself at risk to get hurt seriously when you start exchanging blows even if your the better fighter you still are most likely going to receive a few shots and it only takes 1 sometimes to hurt you bad or worse if it connects right and if you have the guys buddies around theyw ill take that chance to jump in and beat you down, always best to deflect clinch and tie them up and finich with a strike or break and arm after a trap e.t.c... also the street theres no gloves, referees to protect you from injury, corner men e.t.c.. who gets out alive gets to go home.. theres no winners, its very sad to see.
  8. I have rank in 2 arts '3rd dan' Karate and Traditional Japanese Jujitsu, but I have dabbled and trained with people in other arts and picked up the basics well and added it to my Martial arts, these arts include.. Wing Chun, Hapkido, Most forms of grappling in some way..BJJ, shoot wrestling, judo 'trained with a judo bb for about 2 years' kook sool won, tang so do.. I dont claim to know those arts inside out.lol of course not I just trained for a long period of time with people from those arts so it influenced me in some way.
  9. If there swinging wild like you said... parry, block, catch a arm and tie them up.. after there tied up 'trapped' give them a few pops and hopefully they will have settled down.lol! I'am not going to stand toe to toe no time for that nonsense.lol!
  10. I dont drink... but welcome to KF forums!
  11. Hockey eh!.. love it! always liked Boston.
  12. I retired from competing in 2000 when I was 23 competed for 15 years before that in open tournaments, closed circuit, semi contact and full contact, national and internationally, I'am now searching for a deeper meaning in the Martial arts as I get older.
  13. Yes I have heard of it! I'am not a expert in it, but I have heard from several sources in the medical field that it is quite possible and can happen with years of hitting hard objects e.t.c.. its the risk you take I guess.
  14. Eventual all belts lose there colour over time just like clothing and the fraying is also normal 'over time' as well.
  15. You can always try Wing Chun.
