  2. im in your shoes. i just moved to new jersey(toms river in ocean county) and i cant find a place to train either.
  3. I used to live in Maryland but moved a few months ago. Scot Mertz was my sensai back when he was affiliated with Shotokan and the JKA. I started learning some Saishu Ryu and was able to keep my Shotokan rank. I will probably be back in Maryland soon.
  4. im not really sure how, but i DO know that you dont want to keep hitting yourself in the same area. this is a common problem for muay tai boxers because alot of them damage nerves in their shins and forearms from hitting them so frequently and sometimes get blood clots. sorry i couldnt be of more assistance

  6. yeah, buy some cheap handwraps. i learned the hard way and ended up with blisters on my knuckles.
  7. my school make a habit of teaching a little bit of terminology as you progress in each belt rank, but we dont do any fluent talking with it

  10. yes, belts are used for detemining rank/skill, even though the skill part can sometimes be faulty. ie; greenbelt pwning brownbelt
