  1. Right now I know Heian Shodan Yansu Heian Nidan And now I'm learning Tensho Heian Sandan
  2. I Rei and say Thankyou
  3. My Mentors, there are quite a few My Father, who taught me the principuls of self - dscipline and honour as I grew up My Sensei, Paul, Who has taught me that Karate is a state of mind, not a way to fight someone My Fellow Karateka's, Korran and Corey, both showing the path I need to follow and always telling me on day I will be as good as them! MY Role models are people who I have never met, but they are as follows; Sensei Bill Evans; The man who taught my Father Wado-Ryu from Sei-Bu-Kan in Portsmouth. Gichen Funaksohi; Without him, where would we all be? Miyamoto Musashi; Enuf Said
  4. It really depends. When I'm training for Kumite, I listen to alot of Metallica, Slipknot, Static - X, Alice in Chains, Shihad (New Zealand Band), Slayer, Rob Zombie, Disturbed stuff with alot of aggression Kata, I either have nothing on, or Linkin Park, Incubus, Urban Techno just stuff that carries alot of emotion. (One of my favourites is Linkin Park - Points of Authority, great for a long Kata)
  5. I do think this has alot to do with style, but other things aswell That's why reading Miyamoto's Go Rin No Sho is helpful. Yes, Fists and Feet and Elbows and Knees and Movements do the work, but it's your mind and what you tell your body to do that makes it happen. If you can make your Opponent FEEL Weaker then you with your mind and the things you do before you throw any strikes, then no matter what style you do, you will win. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, but I know what I am trying to say!
  6. Finally, a good forum where I can discuss my passion with like minded individuals! My names Jack Williamson, and I'm currently a Yellow Belt in Shotokan Karate at the Bujitsukai Karatedo Dojo in Marton NZ, yes, very out in the middle of nowhere. Martial Arts in my passion. Studying Wado-Ryu Karate from my Father (Who was taught by the legendary Bill Evans from Sei-Bu-Kan Karate) at a young age, I quickly joined a local Ju Jitsu club. After leaving because of politics, I was on a breif low. I started Shotokan a few months ago (Unfortunatly I realised I wanted to pursue Karate at the age of 18, wishing I had started at a younger age!) and have already recieved my Yellow Belt and a 1st Place Trophee in my first Tournament. It will be great getting to know alot of you who share my passion for the Arts!
